The Royal Seal of Approval as APM Receives Chartered Status
The project management profession receives acknowledgement.
As a member of the Association of Project Managers, CLS is pleased to say that this professional body has now received Chartered status under Royal assent.
The assent, which begins on 1 April 2017, means that the association now benefits from the same status as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
This development is a major milestone for the profession – and is the last phase before it becomes a full Chartered body.
The approval of Chartered status means that those undertaking a career in project management can rest assured that it is now fully recognised as a profession – and it’s a major step for what is a relatively new field, although it is already making a considerable contribution to the economy.
The Sealed Charter, which was presented to representatives from the association, including its president, David Waboso, is printed on vellum, following a 700-year-od tradition. Likewise, a warrant authorising the Crown Office to apply the Great Seal of the Realm was signed by Her Majesty, The Queen, on the agreement of the Privy Council.
“We know that project management is the most effective means of delivering successful change and we know that change, when delivered well, improves our economy and society.” said APM Chairman John McGlynn “Our skills are needed more than ever and the Royal Charter provides the profession with a platform to raise awareness of our skills, improve standards and develop our practice for the benefit of all.”
The next phase in the process is for the APM to begin compiling a register of Chartered Project Professionals.
We at CLS are proud to be members of this organisation, as it enters its next phase – and we know that our membership is also of benefit to our clients.
Choosing a project management company that is a member of the APM ensures that you are working with a company that has access to the latest resources and training, which will in turn ensure that we provide you with an effective and efficient service.
We are also kept up to date with the latest developments, trends and practices, which we can pass on to our clients.
APM members are also likely to attract the best professionals, with more skills and knowledge, which again is a benefit to our clients.
